Victoria Dowdy playing guitar

Victoria Dowdy

Victoria Dowdy is a native Memphian singer-songwriter who fronts the local Folk and Americana duo Oakwalker. She has sung since before she could speak and learned guitar at the age of 10 years old. While initially she performed in choirs, talent shows, plays, and other amateur showcases, Victoria began her professional music career in the fall of 2019. She often brings her love of oldies, folk, country, and modern popular music together, with her songwriting having been described as "Something that's one-of-a-kind, modernizing Americana while not losing any of the elements that make the genre so enduring," (Graeme Smith for York Calling, 2024). She has been compared to Amy Lavere and Roseanne Cash by We Are Memphis Music (2024). Her duo Oakwalker has released several singles and an EP and released their debut album "Tiger Sun Moon" this year. She is currently working on recording more solo music with release dates to be announced.
