Discover your next favorite artist at the Memphis Songwriters Series, hosted by Memphis songwriter Mark Edgar Stuart.

Mark and his musical guests take audiences on a journey behind the music, sharing personal stories and introducing exciting new works.

This innovative, immersive experience lifts the veil on Memphis’ longstanding songwriting tradition for music fans of all genres to enjoy.

Each Songwriters Series performance features three of Memphis’ own seasoned musicians.

Host Mark Edgar Stuart was the go-to bass player for an elite group of record producers and artists. As a sideman he has toured with some of Memphis' finest exports, one which led to an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman.  In 2010, he put down his bass, picked up a guitar and started writing songs. His debut CD, Blues for Lou, earned him “Record Of The Year” by the Memphis Flyer. Since then he has become one of the city's most beloved singer-songwriters, and has enjoyed national recognition in publications such as Garden & Gun, Paste, & Los Angeles Times.

Alicja Trout (Alicja-pop)

Alicja Trout (Alicja-pop)

Alicja Trout (Alicja-pop) first became infatuated with songwriting at 16 years old. Several years later she got her own recording set-up and was trading ideas and tapes with musical friends. This was Alicja’s biggest influence and inspiration for Alicja-pop. Each song on this new Alicja-pop album explores a different style and theme. “Howlin’” is a compilation of several years of songs.

Don Bryant

Don Bryant

“My main thing is to tell a story,” says Don Bryant, songwriter and performer. “Taking an idea and making a full story out of it is a challenge to me. I go back to look at situations in my life, work the story in my head. And basically the story is, how did it start out? How did it turn out? Is this a part of what I was going through? If you can tap into things that people go through, then they want to listen.
